Welcome

Welcome to my 365 project. I am using NE Wisconsin barns for my theme. I hope to capture a new barn every day. I would like this to be a narrative of the plight of barns in Wisconsin. Many are falling into disrepair, or are being completely removed.

I have mirrored these images on my photography website http://robertelko.zenfolio.com/ . These images are larger, and higher in resolution. They are available for purchase.

If you are in the area, and would like to see the barns for yourself, click on the city name at the bottom of the photo. It will take you to google maps.

Thanks for stopping!!

Hwy BB

This is the closest barn to my home. It is about 1/2 mile away. It is the last little sliver of a farm that has now been developed as a retirement/assisted living complex. I hope this barn stays around for a while.

Hwy 47

Sometimes it is the silo that catches my eye and the barn becomes secondary.

Hwy O.

I half expected to see a pile of empty Blatz cans behind this one. I did not see any beer cans, just lots of weeds. They were working on the highway today, and it will be nice when it is done. I had to drive around two different steamrollers.

Julius Road

This is the Julius Homestead. Since 1864 says the sign. I finally got a sunset for a background instead of grey skies.

Clayton Avenue

Almost mine. Yes, about two years ago we were looking at this farm and this would have been my barn. It's a beauty, There are still numbers above the doors that say "1893". If so, this is one of the best preserved barns in the area. It also has a 60 X 40 machine shed for a brother and a nice little Dutch barn for a sister. I'm not sure that I would be posting this blog if we had bought this farm. My life would have turned in another direction for sure.

The weather is still dreary, but it sure does make the grass look green! This barn is on Hwy A just north of Hwy 41.

Hwy M just north of Hwy 10. I really like this barn. The holy roof, the algae on the siding, and the dovetail joints in the corners.
